When rumors first surfaced back in January about Lil Wayne’s plan to release a rock album called Rebirth (Cash Money/Universal), a collective wave of WTF? quickly spread over the Internet.  But, fear not: According to Bryan “Baby” Williams, Wayne’s mentor and father figure, as well as Cash Money Records co-CEO, the new album is less about Wayne going rock and more about him experimenting and growing as an artist.

“It’s not a rock record,” Baby told VIBE recently during an exclusive interview.

“That’s what I think people are getting misunderstood. When you speaking about a rock record, you think he’s got a guitar and everything, but it’s not that. It’s going to be some of those types of beats, but it’s just great music. I don’t think no artist can do what he about to get done. My son is a rock star.”

“He can rap, he can sing, he’s just an artist,” he says. “I don’t think no one will ever be greater because I don’t think no one puts in the time or the quality. If someone do come along, can you imagine what he’ll have to do?

He got to put out on thousand mixtapes, do a thousand records sell 100 million records. 2Pac, Jay-Z and Biggie didn’t get to the shit Wayne’s done.”

Originally slated for an April release, Rebirth is now scheduled to drop on June 16. In related news, Baby’s fourth solo album Priceless (Cash Money/Universal) will also drop in June. The lead single from that album, “Always Strapped,” features Lil Wayne and is currently available on iTunes.

Andre Benjamin — aka Andre 3000 from the rap group Outkast – was arrested in his home state of Georgia this weekend after he was nailed for doing 109 mph in a 65 mph zone.

We’re told Andre was taken to the Henry County Jail where he took a mugshot, posted $1,200 bail and was eventually released.

She Does have some long feet!!! I wonder what size she wear? Can she  wear Chris Brown Shoes!!!

Wednesday  rapper T-Pain suffered a serious injury. Lil Kim was shooting the video for her new single “Download” featuring T-Pain on Friday and the shoot was interrupted when T-Pain injured himself on a golf cart.

T-Pain was “fooling around” on a golf cart with one of his boys – and dude pushed him off. The insider explains, “T-Pain’s whole mouth was busted, 4 of his teeth fell out and they said his jaw was broken.”

Shortly after the accident, an ambulance came to the set and rushed T-Pain off the scene and to a nearby hospital.

Neither T-Pain, nor his reps have commented on the incident.

It’s a common misconception that T.I. is going to jail today. He’s actually NOT going to jail, he’s simply going for his sentencing.

A Northern Georgia District judge sentenced T.I. to one year and one day in prison on felony weapons charges Friday (March 27), calling the rapper’s plea deal “experimental” but a success.

Judge Charles Pannell Jr. told the rapper he had more than exceeded the court’s expectations, and he hoped his case would inspire similar plea deals.

As a part of the plea deal T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) struck last March, the year-and-a-day sentence was expected. The rapper is also required to complete 1,000 hours of community service before turning himself in, and another 500 hours after completing his sentence. He also must pay a $100,000 fine.

Tip is scheduled to report to prison voluntarily within the next six to eight weeks. However, the judge acknowledged that the rapper has agreed-upon commitments what will not allow him to enter prison before May 19.

T.I., in a charcoal-grey suit and matching black dress shirt and tie, delivered a sober speech to the judge. His 10-minute speech details his misguided youth, the death of his best friend Philant Johnson in 2006, and his desire to use his mistakes for a positive end.

“Your honor, pehaps if I didn’t make the mistakes that I did as a youth, maybe I could have armed myself legally,” he said.

T.I. said Johnson’s death contributed to impairing his judgment.

A number of supporters spoke before Tip, including church activists Ambassador Andrew Young and Bishop Eddie Long.

Judge Pannell listened to each supporter and graciously thanked T.I. for successfully meeting the terms of his plea deal and the conditions of his bond.

Several times throughout his closing remarks, Judge Pannell called T.I.’s arrangement “experimental.” He singled out the U.S. Attorney responsible for the deal and joked, “If this didn’t work, I’d send you to jail, Mr. Harris – but the attorney, I’d probably throw him out the 23rd-floor window.” The remark drew laughs and Tip smiled as well.

T.I. thanked the government legal team for their “vision” and told the courtroom that pleasing the judge and lawyers makes him as happy as him trying to please his family.

The rapper must agree on meeting a number of conditions after his release. He will be required to submit to an audit, drug counseling and he will be subjected to home confinement for 60 days.

A beaming T.I. celebrated with his family immediately afterward, before court officers ordered people to leave the floor. Tip held a brief press conference after inside the courthouse lobby, thanking his family and supporters.

Rapper Flo Rida is reportedly being sought by police for accusations of animal cruelty following a retail store visit in Kentucky.The “Low” hitmaker is being accused of brutally killing a rabbit.

Lexington Police searching for Flo Rida’s tour bus in several states on allegations of animal cruelty. According to an Animal Control officer, a witness reportedly observed the tour bus stopping the location, where two men got out of the bus. The witness told police men from the bus committed an act of cruelty to an animal. Police have said the animal was a rabbit, and without being graphic, they say the witness reportedly saw the men kill it and then leave. (WKYT News)

While Flo may not be direclty connected to the act, authorities are still on the prowl for his tour bus.

Lexington Police, Kentucky State Police and Lexington Animal Control began investigating the incident. Police put out an attempt to locate the tour bus, which is reportedly heading to Columbus, Ohio. They would like to question the occupants on the tour bus. (AHH)

WOW!! I wonder how T. Pain Feels about Akon

A good friend of my good friend called me today and said that he had been told by a very, very reliable source that Lil Kim is going to be joining TLC. YES. Lil Kim assuming the rapper role in TLC? Well, here is the latest. The details are being worked out where Kim will join them on their tour in Japan that’s coming up. OK, at first it sounded crazy, but on second thought, not so insane. Kim in an established name in the game and going overseas, they will probably fare well. I don’t know if this is a permanent change, but as a temporary move…not a bad idea.

Remember when a group of people associated with Akon knocked out Los Angeles rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight in Arizona. Well it may just be a coincidence – but last night a group of goons ran up one of Akon’s boy’s crib.

Last night, one Akon’s employees – who was allegedly involved in the whole Suge Knight beatdown – had his home robbed at gunpoint.

Here’s how TMZ is reporting things:

We’ve now spoken with one of the victims of the home invasion robbery early this morning — a man who works for Detail, Akon’s producer — and he says Suge Knight and money are behind the incident.

Christoper Walker tells us at about 3:00 AM five men broke into his home with guns and said they were there to collect a debt on behalf of Suge Knight. They claimed Detail owed Suge money, and then proceeded to collect on the debt.

Walker says Detail was asleep in one of the bedrooms. The men entered the bedroom but did not get Detail out of bed. Instead, they stole $170,000 worth of jewelry from his room.

Walker adds they demanded a key to the safe and said they would kill all four people in the house if they didn’t get it. The robbers didn’t get the key — instead, they took the 130 pound safe.

Walker says they also took stereo equipment and a key to a Mercedes. He claims the total heist was more than $200,000. A police source tells us it’s more like $300,000.

Walker says the feud ignited in Arizona during NBA All-Star weekend when Suge got his face smashed in by two men who worked for Akon. Walker says that incident was over the same alleged debt that triggered this morning’s home invasion.

Walker says the robbers put a gun to his head and forced him to the ground but he and the others were just scratched up. Walker’s brother and a sound engineer were also in the house.

Fitty and Ciara were at O inside the Bellagio last night with 50 in disguise, wearing an afro wig, baseball cap and sunglasses while Ciara was sporting a parka. They got to their seats as the show started, escorted by a body guard, and left right before the performance ended.

Solange Knowles was assaulted over the weekend. According to one of someone who attended Solange’s Austin concert on Saturday – a fan punched Beyonce’s baby sis in the face.

Chris Brown has decided to get a college degree,

Chris is trying to enroll for classes at Virginia’s Norfolk State University. He and his mother attended this weekend’s open house at the prestigious Virginia university – and were anxious to sign up for classes.

Word is Chris’ mother thinks that getting a college degree would be a good move for Chris.

And we agree. At least now, if his career doesn’t rebound – he can have a degree to fall back on.

TI’s baby mother Tameka “Tiny” Cottle recently gave an interview with Essence magazine. In it, Tiny gave some insight into her relationship with T.I.

ESSENCE: What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about you and T.I.’s relationship?

TINY: That we’re not a real couple. They think because we’re not married yet and have been engaged for two years that something must be wrong. I know it’s a long time, but there are so many restrictions placed upon him now before we can think about planning a wedding. There is so much love between us it’s ridiculous, and we like time together. So the things that people say and write about us doesn’t bother me. I know what we have and what he shows me every day and that’s all that matters.

ESSENCE: Do you have any words of encouragement for women who might be going through a similar situation as you?

TINY: Yes. Depending on the situation and the person, you should stick it out through thick and thin—the good and bad times. If you know you’re with someone who would give his life for you and is somewhat a responsible better half, then stand up for him. I know my man’s heart and because of that I’m going to be everything I need to be for him. Yes, he’s made mistakes, but so have I.

If your man stands up for you and is there whenever you need him, then doesn’t he deserve your unconditional love and support? If I know that about my man, then that’s the kind of woman I’m going to be for him. According to new online reports, Chris Brown and Rihanna may have filmed some bootleg sex tapes and Rihanna is now scared that they will leak after she split with Chris.

Last year a friend of mine contacted me and told me they had a friend that wanted to sell me some photos. I said “cool, tell him to send me a sample so I can see what he has”. The guy hits me up and sends me a tagged photo of the singer Cassie topless. I’m like “whoa, I didn’t know he meant these types of photos. Before I could respond, he sent over two more photos. One with the subject “Rihanna’s p*ssy” and it was a photo of a girl the complexion of Rihanna, with her butt to the camera that looked like it could have been taken by someone that she was about to sit on. The second was a photo of a girl that looked EXACTLY like Rihanna with just her underwear, breast out with the signature tattoo she has going down the side of her hip visible. At first I thought the tattoo was on the wrong side of her body, but realized she was standing in the mirror and I was looking at her reflection. I emailed the guy back and said

“I’m sorry but I can’t do anything with these photos because I refuse to attach my name to something like that. I’m sure there are other sites that would jump at the opportunity of buying these from you but I can’t…”

He then asked if I could be the middle man between him and “said” sites and I never responded.

So whether Rihanna and Chris has a sex tape is questionable but we do know some photos exist…..

Lil Wayne is slated to be the first recording star to appear in a revamped version of the hit VH1 series “Behind The Music” ! After covering the lives of everyone from Mary J. Blige to LL Cool J prior to 2006, VH1’s “Behind The Music” took a break. Today, VH1 executive vice president of original programming says “It felt like the time is right”. “There’s all sorts of new artists on the scene who have emerged and have these great stories. And there’s other artists that we always wanted to do the first time around.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, VH1 has ordered 10 new episodes of “Music”due to air later this year. Grammy Award-winning musician Scott Weiland has reportedly signed on for the series with Lil Wayne. Other participating entertainers will be revealed at a later date.

There was an incident at the party in New York that Vince Carter hosted where basically Queen threw a drink on Rocsi and they were arguing, security and even Vince were trying to break it up luckily it did not escelade. There is some REAL DRAMA going on at this season of BET’s College Hill. The VERY FIRST EPISODE has already cost one of the castmembers to get put out. Apparently she starts fighting and acting crazy – and everyone decides that she’s got to go.

But the chick, whose name is Terri, is now speaking out about what she claims went down.

Here’s a portion of it:

While in the house, a fight took place between me and another cast member. After I was assaulted the producers disconnected the phone in the house so that I couldn’t call police and then had me basically held against my will at a hotel in Miami.

They wouldn’t let me get near a phone for hours until they had a camera crew to film me (I guess because they wanted to film me crying out for my mother). I remember being in the hotel and running to the first phone I saw to call my parents after the fight and having it pulled out of my hands by one of the people on the shows staff.

She then pulled the phone out of the wall and hid it from me. Can you imagine how that felt! I just wanted to call my parents after being involved in a fight and all these people were thinking about was how to get me on film during my state of weakness.

The producers of the show also had me held in a limo and told the driver to take me to some location that they wanted to film me crying after the fight. When I heard of the producer’s plans, I paid the driver money from my own pocket to take me to my family’s house in South Florida.

When the producers got word that I was going home to be with me family instead of whatever location that they wanted me to go, they called the driver and told him to lock the doors on the car and not to let me get out until he took me to where they wanted. The driver didn’t feel comfortable taking me somewhere against my will and instead drove me to my family’s house.

When I was at the hotel in Miami, my family called the Miami Police and several media outlets to come up to the hotel because I was being held against my will (YES THE PRODUCERS TOLD ME I COULD NOT LEAVE!!!)The media waited outside the hotel to interview the producers but they were hiding in the room because they didn’t want to be exposed

Oh and we got some more inside info. Apparently Terri and her mother made some statements that had the remaining College Hill castmembers very nervous, during the filming of the show, one of the castmembers was given 24 hour security – to protect her from Terri.

Jay Z can add a new title to his list of accomplishments – platinum selling rapper, NBA owner, real estate mogul, restaurateur … and now business manager. We just got EXCLUSIVE confirmation that Jigga has begun managing recording artists.

And it’s not just new artists either.  Jigga’s first artist is R&B singer Brandy Norwood. Brandy had been managed for most of her career by her mother Sonya Norwood. It’s not clear whether Jigga’s “management” deal with Brandy will be exclusive – or whether Sonya will stay on as a co-manager.

Singer Keyshia Cole’s sister Neffe has confirmed that she is pregnant again after given birth to a baby boy just about a year ago. She tells Sister2Sister magazine that her pregnancy was unexpected. “I’m pregnant and I got an attitude with and i don’t want him to … touch me right now—or ever because it was not supposed to happen this way. Now I’m trying to figure this out, ’cause I just had Jaylen.” Jaylen is Neffe’s youngest son, born just last year after the BET reality star decided to keep him in lieu of aborting. This baby will be the first for Neffe and her fiance Soullow. Neffe is already the mother of four children: Brianna, Christare, CiCi, and Jaylen. Rapper Soullow also has children from previous relationships.

We reported to you yesterday that a number of Detroit goons busted into a club – trying to get at rapper Jim Jones. Now we’re getting a little more info on what caused the beef to start. One of my boys in the D told me Jimmy was behind in his payment of “hood taxes.”

What are hood taxes, you ask? Well,

The taxes could be anything from doing a track with a local artist, or doing a free concert for a promoter, or show love to the streets by dropping off a couple of stacks.

And in case you’re wondering what the penalty is for not paying Detroit’s new “hood taxes.

“Just like the IRS, the penalty is severe.”

We spoke to a person close to the filming of the Bravo show the Real Housewives Of Atlanta and they claims that a FIST FIGHT broke out on the set.

Here’s what happen, Sheree was upset that an Atlanta promoter named Tony Shorter was publicizing an event using her name – which she claimed, she never authorized. The confrontation started off civil then –all of a sudden – things went left. The insider explains, “ called Sheree a broke b*tch and Sheree calling him a .”

And that’s where the details get a little fuzzy. According to our snitch, a split second after Sheree said those fateful words – a fist came out of nowhere and allegedly punched Sheree in her arm – HARD! The insider told us, “I can’t say who did what to whom, but Sheree was hurt … I think she’s going to try and sue someone and get some money.”

On Saturday, Tyra Banks’ show America’s Next Top Model held a very POORLY planned open audition in New York City. We’ve received DOZENS of reports on how the lack of security caused a riot to break out – and things almost got DEADLY. But forget the stories, one of our readers actually got footage of the entire incident. Check it out below:

According to our sources, last night rapper Jim Jones was at a Detroit nightclub called Esko, when a group of men dressed in all black walked in and rushed his VIP booth.

The men reportedly pulled out guns and opened fire in the club – allegedly at Jim Jones. While 4 shots were fired and a fight erupted, Jim Jones managed to escape uninjured. Unfortunately two clubgoers were shot.

And it gets worse – one of the men shot was popular Detroit rapper Trick Trick. According to our sources, Trick Trick was with Jim Jones when the attempted assassination occurred – and Trick Trick may have saved Jim Jones’ life.

Both gunshot victims are in stable condition.

EDITOR’S UPDATE – Trick Trick called into local Detroit radio station WKQI claiming that he WAS NOT in the club last night when the shooting occurred. Despite Trick Trick’s denials, police officers told the Detroit Free Press that Trick Trick was INDEED at the club and was IN FACT shot.

It’s officially over. Rihanna has officially ENDED THINGS with R&B singer Chris Brown. And the manner in which Rihanna ended things was particularly SCANDALOUS!!!

The insider, explained that Rihanna gave Chris an ultimatum – end all contact with manager Tina Davis, or lose her. The insider explained, “Rihanna will not take him back, especially if there is still any kind of relationship between him and Tina Davis – personal or professional! But he is not prepared to fire her, and lost Rihanna.”

As we reported earlier, Tina and Chris have been rumored to be having a sexual relationship for many years. According to TMZ.com, Tina sent Chris a sexual text message – which sparked the assault incident. Tina has since issued a public statement – claiming that she and Chris were not sexually involved.

And so as of last THURSDAY NIGHT, Rihanna and Chris are officially over. “ left Los Angeles to clear her head … and get him out of her mind.”

But while Rihanna seems to be moving past the incident, Chris is reportedly falling into a very deep depression. A person close to Chris’ camp explains, “Initially he was confident that he’d get past this, but he’s beginning to lose hope … people are worried about him … I’ve never seen him like this.”

I received word from a source who is typically very reliable that R&B singer/writer The Dream, allegedly proposed to Pop singer Christina Milian and she said YES!!!! At some point yesterday The Dream allegedly took Christina to the rooftop of his condo in LA where he popped the question with a diamond ring that’s estimated at nearly $200,000. The ring is said to be designed by he daughter of a very well known wealthy American billionaire.

I am also told they had an intimate dinner celebration later that evening with with close friends and family and Christina was glowing like a schoolgirl. I hear Dream said it was love at first sight and insiders say ‘he is sooo open on Christina’.

Just woke up from finishing some work in the studio late last night to some eager phone calls as to whether or not I am Engaged…. No, I am not. Point blank, period. Pretty funny. I really don’t have a lot to say about it… I think since I announced the title of my new album “Elope” these rumors seem to be looming around lately… It’s an album title and a title track. And to me “Elope” represents taking control of my life and being an adult making my own responsible decisions. Despite anyone’s judgement…. I have not run off and Eloped either, LOL. So….that being said.. Stay focused and to anyone who thinks my life is a Publicity stunt… GROW UP. Life is short, enjoy it and stop picking on what I do. Just eleven days after a Louisiana judge allowed C-Murder to remain on house arrest, the New Orleans rapper has been sent back to jail for alleged violations, according to the Associated Press.

Gretna authorities say that Murder’s electronic device that monitors his whereabouts was out of range early Monday morning (March 9) for about ten minutes, which is an violation of his house arrest terms. His lawyer claims the he was asleep at his grandmother’s house, where he has been serving his time for the last three years.

Booked at the Jefferson Parish Jail, Murder is set to appear in court on April 20th.

The former No Limit rapper is currently awaiting a retrial for the murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas in January of 2002. Although originally convicted of second-degree murder charges back in 2003, he was granted a new trial when a separate judge said prosecutors withheld criminal background information to Miller’s lawyers on several key witnesses. In March 2006 he was released on $50,000 bond and put on house arrest.

There is a serious rumor that Chris Brown and Rihanna are about to do something crazy. They are – according to the Chicago Sun Times – working on a deal that will take them on a “tour” so that they can talk about abuse. This deal has several components to it. They are going to do a book together to talk about abuse and music, whatever that entails. They are going to do a number of talk shows in which they will discuss their issues (and I assume how they will move on). This deal allegedly involves a $10 million pay out for Rihanna. Now, Rihanna’s lawyer has refuted the claims, but there may be something to this. You never know really.

“American Idol” is about to get a double dose of star power – Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson.

The Grammy winners will share the stage as performers during Wednesday’s elimination show.

West, making his first appearance on the top-rated Fox series, will perform his hit song “Heartless” from his latest album “808s & Heartbreak.”

Clarkson, the original “American Idol,” will sing her chart-topper “My Life Would Suck Without You,” from her new album being released Tuesday.

The show – a ratings juggernaut since it debuted in 2002 – has attracted numerous top artists as mentors and performers in recent seasons.

Among them – Mariah Carey, Prince, Gwen Stefani, Dolly Parton and Jennifer Lopez.

Rihanna’s lawyer put out a statement confirming that Rihanna will testify in the Chris Brown assault case if compelled to do so by the court. Here’s what her lawyer, Donals Etra, said:

Sources close to the negotiations tell E! News that the R&B star’s attorneys are in talks with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office about a possible plea deal that would see Brown wind up with probation—rather than jail time—for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna on Feb. 8.

Rapper T.I. will start his prison sentence on 27 March (09). The hitmaker will go before an Atlanta, Georgia judge on that date and he’ll officially be sentenced to jail. T.I., real name Clifford Harris, will spend a year and one day behind bars after pleading guilty to possession of unregistered weapons.
